Celebrating a Psychic November Teaching Others to be Advisors

After more than almost 40 years of doing Tarot readings I’ve never met before, I continue to be awed at how powerful and multi-layered the process is for both of us. The dynamic unfolds in an indescribable quantum sea of perceptions, impressions, and expressions. Few professions would afford me this deeply intimate and immediate link to another human being. Heartfully, I’m honoured at clients’ receptiveness to sharing all the most intimate details of their lives with me. Thanks to all of you for enriching my life in ways you might not know until we meet in spirit.

Teaching Others to be Advisors

I halted my classroom style Tarot classes several years ago. Occasionally I work one-on-one with advanced Tarot masters for the purposes of tutoring and mentoring. I love this one-on-one training. It’s interactive, fast paced and inspiring; often nudging me to consider more about what I do with conscious intention.

Teaching advanced initiates how to perform a service which is intuitive and individualistic helps to keep my work fresh and innovative. As initiate and mentor, we share a multi-layered commitment to this crazy and complex deck of cards. Tarot initiates are creative, psychic folk who listen and adhere to an inner voice with unwavering conviction. I haven’t met a compliant, conformist tarotist yet. An oxymoron! It’s a brave individual who is willing to plunge into this process despite the quaking knees and quivery voice boxes. Dedication and persistence of the highest degree is necessary to master the Tarot accurately and authentically.

Initiates of the Tarot grow psychologically in ways that inevitably surprises them. Their ability to empathize, be non-judgmental, and compassionate builds a more solid foundation in their personality structures; comfortably supporting deeper intimacy with a multitude of people simultaneously.

Furthermore, and much to an initiate’s surprise, their inner transformation alters their relationships with close friends and family. Liking some people less and others more; becoming less tolerant of some behaviours, while being more tolerant of others. All these changes are felt and either supported or rejected by significant others in their lives, creating a feedback loop that further escalates this transformative process!

Some students have reported their lives spinning into such a whirlwind of change, they can hardly keep up and have sought spiritual counseling guidance through what has become a personal gauntlet of gargantuan proportions. Some have spent years rediscovering their new place in the world as a consequence of this intense study.

Altering Another’s Destiny

If you’ve dedicated yourself to a spiritual path for any length of time you already know well that it’s the spiritual work that is the toughest segment in this Tarot rite of passage gauntlet. Adhering to a commitment to know yourself and push against the boundaries of your own limitations will become your most daunting task.

Altering another’s destiny puts burdens on your soul. Each reader must navigate this challenge with a fearlessness of purpose that sends most folks running for the exit. The rare readers are those who fully perceive this salient fact and yet continue to progress with a self-confidence comprised certainly not of false bluster, but of a steely inner conviction that they can provide a service that is unselfconscious, honourable, and healing.

The truly inspired readers don’t resort to cheap tricks or pomposity. They are real people who have worked many long, intense hours to learn their tool and how best to use it to help others. You’ll know them when you meet them. They treat you with respect, tell you what they can and cannot do honestly and stick to your agreed upon arrangement.

The Honest Psychic

Clients have often been caught off-guard with my honest delivery when it hasn’t been in alignment with what, “other readers they have consulted that have said”.
If you are happy with a reader you should stick with them. Don’t pursue other readers to double check on their perceptions unless you know those perceptions are wrong.

Pursuing different readings with different readers will only lead to confusion and disappointment. Some clients have claimed to have consulted many before calling me! Readers “see” different things for different reasons.

Some readers default to the “feel good” reading to avoid unpleasant disagreements, tears and cursing that might be levied at you for being the unfortunate bearer of the bad news. Having been a counselor with years of training, emotional outbursts are an expected tone of the interaction. I teach my students that they will sacrifice their psychic gift by failing to say what you see even if it’s unpleasant for the client to hear. After a time your readings will become so watered down, they aren’t helping anybody except perhaps your pocket book.

Acceptance Leads to a New Beginning

I know too that it’s only when we accept the reality of our situation can we truly move on to find true happiness. Nothing is worse than waiting for an outcome that will never happen. We aren’t going to win a lottery that will lift us out of debt finally; that lover is over you and won’t be returning on their knees; your mother never loved you and won’t ever. These truths are painfully disappointing but once we have fully taken on board this reality, we can move on to get out of debt, meet someone new and more worthy of our love and find a substitute mother that can do unconditional positive regard.

The students who study with me and succeed to professional readership are special individuals. In truth the numbers who went on to open a practice after studying with me are meager (8 out of 500 approx.) It’s a lifelong study and challenge. Every day is a new challenge. Having both read and taught the practice has been a privilege and honour that I will treasure for an eternity.
